Distant Shore is a Nassau trading house for the makers who supply the world’s best bars. We carry their work across the water without compromise, and place it where it will be served properly.

The House

Most of what reaches these islands travels on price. We are building a house that travels on trust.

Distant Shore is a Nassau trading house built for one purpose: to bring exceptional makers to the bars, resorts and tables of The Bahamas, and to represent them the way they would represent themselves.

We work with a deliberately short list. Every maker is met in person, every product is tried behind a working bar, and every partnership is built to last decades rather than seasons. When we add a name, it is because it earned its place.

Provenance
Sourced directly from the maker. No grey channels, no anonymous cases, no surprises on arrival.
Condition
Climate-controlled from origin to placement. Heat is the enemy of anything worth pouring; we treat it as one.
Focus
A small portfolio represented completely, rather than a vast one represented carelessly.
The Islands

Seven hundred islands, one standard. In 2025 The Bahamas welcomed a record 12.5 million visitors, more than 1.8 million of them staying guests, and everything they are poured arrives across open water. We know where the product needs to be, and what it takes to arrive in perfect condition.

The Collection In formation

Everything a serious bar reaches for, chosen one maker at a time. Names are shared with trade partners first, under confidence, as each agreement is signed.

  1. No. 01

    Bitters & tinctures

Aromatic, citrus and botanical bitters from small houses that still macerate by hand.

  2. No. 02

    Syrups & cordials

Cane, orgeat, falernum and fruit cordials made with real ingredients and a pastry chef's patience.

  3. No. 03

    Tonics & mixers

Fine carbonation and honest sweetness, built to lift what is poured beside them rather than bury it.

  4. No. 04

    Bar tools & glass

Jiggers, spoons, shakers and glassware from workshops that make the tools professionals keep for life.

  5. No. 05

    Garnish & botanicals

Dehydrated citrus, cocktail cherries, olives and edible flowers, shelf-stable enough to survive the crossing and the heat.

  6. No. 06

    Vermouths & aperitifs

The modifiers a menu turns on: fortified wines, drinking vinegars and bitter aperitivi, kept cool from cellar to back bar.

  7. No. 07

    Salts, sugars & rimmers

Flake and smoked salts, demerara and spiced sugars. Small things a guest notices on the first sip.

  8. No. 08

    Bar consumables

Picks, straws, coasters and napkins of a quality that matches the drink, supplied steadily so service never runs short.

The Method
01

Selection

We meet the maker, try the range behind a working bar, and agree terms directly. Nothing enters the book on a broker's word alone.

02

Carriage

Temperature-controlled freight, insured and tracked, with customs and duty managed under one roof.

03

Keeping

Climate-stable storage on New Providence. Stock rests in the right conditions until the day it is called for.

04

Placement

Delivered with the story intact: provenance, serving guidance, and the reason it belongs on your back bar.

“An island is only as good as what it chooses to let ashore. We intend to be very particular company.”
The founding principle
A letter from the founder

To the makers we hope to represent, and the bars we hope to serve,

The Bahamas pours for some of the most discerning guests in the world. Too often, what fills those glasses arrives by whichever route is cheapest, and the care a maker put into their work is lost somewhere at sea.

I founded Distant Shore to close that distance. We will work with few makers, and we will know each of them personally. We will carry their work as if it were our own, and place it only where it will be treated properly.

We are new, and I will not pretend otherwise. What we offer in place of a long history is a long view: partnerships measured in decades, standards that do not bend, and a founder who answers the phone.

If that sounds like the kind of company you would like to keep, I would be glad to hear from you.

Clarence, Founder
Nassau, The Bahamas

Clarence spent more than a decade in banking, where the work is judging what is built to last and protecting what others entrust to you. Seen through that lens, the gap in Bahamian hospitality was impossible to ignore: world-class venues, serving world-class guests, supplied on price rather than care. Distant Shore brings that discipline to the bar trade, with clear terms, careful stewardship of every maker’s name, and partnerships meant to compound over decades rather than turn over by the season. To run it, Clarence brought together a team of industry veterans who know the trade from the inside.

When can we place an order?

Our first agreements are being finalised now. Stockists who register today are onboarded ahead of the first arrivals and offered first allocation.

What do terms look like for makers?

Exclusive representation across The Bahamas for an initial three years, renewable in further three-year terms. Every 90 days you receive a report on where your product is placed, how it is moving, and what we are learning.

Why are the makers unnamed?

Out of respect for agreements still being signed. Registered trade partners are told first, under confidence, as each one closes.

Where do you deliver?

Headquartered in Nassau. We deliver weekly across New Providence and every two weeks to the family islands and cays.

How do I place an order?

Registered stockists receive our order form and price list by email. The minimum is two cases of each product, and orders arrive within three to seven days.

Are duty and VAT included?

Yes. We hold our own customs brokerage licence and bond, so there is no third party between the dock and your door, and duty and VAT are already in the wholesale price.

How can we pay?

By direct deposit or credit card.

Do you support our team?

Yes. We offer staff training and menu development, so each product is served the way its maker intended.
